Welcome! Bridgetown Bites is a new blogging project by Meg Cotner, freelance writer and author based in Portland, OR.
In summer 2016 I moved to Portland to be near family and slow down after over a decade spent in NYC. I started Bridgetown Bites (Bridgetown is, of course, one of Portland’s nicknames) in September 2016 as an Instagram account, casually and intermittently documenting some of the things I’d eaten in my new town. I’ve spent the last year familiarizing myself with this city and now feel ready to write more about the delicious things you can find here.

Some of you may know my work from when I lived in in Astoria, Queens, where I wrote about the local food scene for myriad online and print publications. I also researched and wrote Food Lovers’ Guide to Queens (Globe Pequot Press, 2012), a guidebook to the restaurants, shops, and markets in the borough. It remains one of my favorite writing projects to date.

On this site I’ll write about food, food, and more food in Portland and environs, including reviews, analysis, commentary, and events; my aim is to be honest but not cruel. My primary social media presence is on Instagram these days, and you can follow along on my explorations at both @bridgetownbites and @megcotner. I’m always open to tips and suggestions on where and what to eat; you can contact me here.
Thanks for reading.
