Haunted Pub Tour

“Uncover Portland’s dark side on this spine-tingling walking tour and hear first-hand accounts of paranormal encounters—all while sampling 6 local beers.” The tour distance is about .8 of a mile, takes about two and a half hours, and includes six 5oz pours. Gourmet Apple Tasting

An abundance of apples and pears will be on display—60 varieties—to taste, purchase, and make into cider. There will also be live entertainment and plenty of family fun—face painting, pumpkin painting, a scavenger hunt, and more. Bring non-perishable food for the Oregon Food Bank drive. FREE. Portland Kolsch Festival

The first ever Portland Kölsch Festival arrives this weekend, where 15+ breweries will feature their interpretation of Kölsch beer (other styles represented, too). There will also be a pop-up beer garden, food trucks, games, and a raffle. All ages until 4pm, 21+ after that. Advance tckets are $18, which gets you a limited-edition Kölsch glass and 12 drink tickets (buy here); tickets are $23 at the door. More information.

Willamette Week’s Cider and Beer Pro/Am

This is “Portland’s original home brewer and professional brewer collaboration event” and “the most unique beer festival of the year” that is “unlike other beer fests that feel too big or too generic,” (Brewvana, 2015). 32 home brewers will partner with established professional brewers, and together they will create and debut 32 brand new beers and ciders with “witty” names. 31st Annual Great Onion Festival

Get your fill of onions at this annual onion festival, with onion contests including onion rolling, onion eating, stinkiest breath, and Best Dang Onion Dish. You, too, can enter—just bring your dish by noon. Lots of fun for the kids, live entertainment, and more. FREE. More information.

Portland VegFest

“Portland VegFest celebrates plant-based living, with free food samples, health and nutrition speakers, chef demonstrations, Fitness Stage workouts, restaurants, films, and activities for kids and teens. There’s something for everyone!” General admission tickets are $10 per day, $17 for a two-day pass; students and seniors 65+ with ID are $7 per day, $12 for a two-day pass (buy here). Farm Dinner with Gregory Gourdet and Jason French

Gregory Gourdet, Executive Chef of Departure Restaurant, and Jason, head chef and owner at Ned Ludd return to Zenger Farm to collaborate on a three-course dinner benefiting the farm’s educational and food access programs. Each ticket includes a prix fixe dinner made with produce sourced from Zenger Farm; wine is also included. Istanbul Raki & Mezze Night

This monthly event series is led today by food enthusiasts Shannon Thompson and Lydia Parsley collaborate to demo the tastes of the season. Kaki Lima & Gado Gado Popup

Kaki Lima Boston is kicking off its 2017 West Coast Pop Up Tour in Portland, collaborating with Gado Gado for a multi-course meal “celebrating the smoked, grilled and charred flavors of Indonesia” including “a rare lineup of flavor-packed Indonesian dishes, both classic and modern, all prepared in front of guests over an outdoor fire pit.” There will be a full-service bar where drinks will be available for purchase.
