Valentine’s Day is almost upon us! We’ve got a bunch of places for you to look into for your special day.

Each week we will bring you a roundup of public food events in the Portland metro area. It’s not every single event that’s going on, but the ones in particular that catch our eye. 5th Annual Chocolate for Congo Benefit
Until Wednesday, February 28, 2018; various times

“All month long, thirteen Portland restaurants and bakeries will be serving up chocolate desserts made with Theo Chocolate. One dollar from the sale of each dessert will go to Eastern Congo Initiative, a non-profit working on grant-making and advocacy with and for the people of eastern Congo. Theo Chocolate, which now sources more than 70% of its chocolate from the Congo, has generously donated the chocolate for the benefit.”

Participating restaurants and bakeries include: Baker & Spice, Bar Avignon, Bistro Agnes, Coquine, Le Pigeon, Little Bird Bistro, Måurice, Oui! Wine Bar + Restaurant, Ox, Pacific Pie, Pie Spot, Tusk, and Quaintrelle. More information.

10th Annual Brew Hog
Thursdays, February 8 and 15, 2018; 6-10pm
North 45 Pub, 517 NW 21st Avenue, Portland

Each Thursday evening until March 29, North 45 will feature one of 24 different brewers, complete with smoked ribs and other menu pairings from Chef Ashley. The featured brewer for February 8 is Upright; for February 15 is Ridgewalker. More information.

Seafood and Beer Dinner
Thursday February 8, 2018; 6:30 pm

Savor eight courses of delicious seafood paired with special beers from Migration, a mix created by Migration Chef Casey Gipson and Chef de Cuisine Drew Benyo. Some of the special beers to be featured at the dinner include: Hama Mamma Oyster Stout a collaboration beer with Trever Bass of Hopworks and Hama Hama Oysters; Canadian Tuxedo Pilsner collaboration Beer with Widmer’s experimental brew team; Barrel-Aged Frankie Belgian Chocolate Stout.
