This Thursday hails the arrival of the holiday fundraiser, Bake America Great Again. It’s in its fifth year, and I can attest to it being a great event—all ages welcome and seriously family-friendly; I attended last in 2017 and brought home a bunch of delicious things. It was at Pip’s then, but this year it’s at Level Beer, located at 5211 NE 148th Avenue in Northeast Portland. Preemptive Love Coalition and RIHO will be the recipients of the donations.

Here are more details about these organizations:

All proceeds from the sale go directly to Preemptive Love Coalition and RIHO. Preemptive Love is an international non-profit organization working across Iraq, Syria, Mexico, and beyond, working to unmake violence and create a more beautiful world. They provide relief to areas affected by war and violence, creating long-term solutions for families by providing them with jobs, and also raise up a diverse community of peacemakers all over the world.

The Refugee and Immigrant Hospitality Organization (RIHO), is a Portland based non-profit helping local refugees and immigrants bridge isolating cultural and language barriers so they can thrive and feel at home in their new community. Join us in supporting global and local initiatives to care for our neighbors with love and hospitality.

You can anticipate a whole range of sweet, sweet  yums from local bakers, restaurant, and even bloggers. And although the event won’t be at Pip’s this year, they will have their food truck there and will be churning out those hot little donuts we all love. The good folks from Never Coffee will also be there with hot stuff to drink.

On top of all that there will be a raffle with multiple prizes, courtesy of local businesses. As the organizers say, “Come grab a treat for your holiday table and support a worthy cause.” Bonus: if you are unable to attend the bake sale, you can still donate to the cause.
