The excellent egg-cheddar-bacon-tomato breakfast sandwich at Fleur de Lis.

I was at Fleur de Lis last weekend and learned a few things that were new to me that I thought I’d pass on. First, in case you were unaware, the bakery/cafe has been under new management for several months now and adjustments have been ongoing. Along with the new manager they’ve had some staff turnover, too. And the large, memorable piece of furniture that served as a kind of bar near the front of the dining room is no longer being used in the cafe space. Fun fact: that furniture was from the original library that occupied that building before they vacated to the new one that is a block away. Maya Lovelace of Mae is Opening a New Restaurant

This morning Maya Lovelace of Mae fame sent out an email announcing her next project: she’s opening a restaurant. The plan is to open in spring 2018; she is not revealing the restaurant’s name just yet, but rest assured that the food with be Southern comfort.

Brewpublic’s 9th Annual Killer Beer Week

This week+ of beer love starts with the Killer Beer Summit on Friday, October 20 and ends with the Killer Beer Week Recovery Beerunch on Sunday, October 29. In between are beer tastings and celebrations of brewing. According to the organizers, the Beerunch tickets are $50 (buy here) and “all other events are free to enter, pay as you go on beer.
