I was happy to see that the great East Portland self-guided food tour, Around the World in 82 Dishes, will be back this year. Look for it from Saturday, October 22 to Sunday, November 6—that’s a little over two weeks to celebrate the variety of food and cultures the are on/around 82nd Avenue.
This event is produced by the 82nd Avenue Business Association. As I wrote in 2021, this is “really a way to celebrate Portland’s most diverse area through food and drink within the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business District, an almost 5-mile long and 1-mile wide section of Portland—think the Clackamas County line to NE Sandy Blvd, and between SE 80th Avenue to 92nd Avenue.”
I’ll look forward to seeing who is participating—the list has not been finalized and in fact at this point the 82nd Avenue Business Association is just starting to invite restaurants, bars, and food carts to participate. The good news this year is that a $5,000 grant has been secured from the City of Portland, and will be used to help local businesses. A couple of the details—one in the free sphere, and one in the paid:
- Free access to marketing services from two Portland marketing-tech companies before and during the event.
- For businesses who sponsor the event, they can access food photography for a set number of dishes and also access professional video services, depending on the sponsorship level they choose.
Regarding free participation and sponsorship, here are the levels (click to enlarge):

If you have a restaurant, bar, or food cart in the area and would like to participate, you can fill out this form, which allows you to share basic contact info, the dish you’ll offer and how much it will cost, and a few other things.
So vendors: we’ll see you in the fall for this event. Eaters, be sure the save the dates and plan to spend time on 82nd Avenue eating all the delicious things (and have the chance to win a $50 gift card, too). I’ll share the vendor info when I get it.
