Mochitsuki

‘Tis the season for celebrating the new year with mochi. The Japanese American Citizens League, Utsukikai and Ikoi no Kai will host Mochitsuki. They will have two free, family-friendly mochi demonstrations starting at noon and 2pm. There will also be food: dango, yaki imo, andadog, onigiri, and baked items for sale. Fuyu Fest

The Redd on Salmon, 831 SE Salmon Street, Portland
This festival explores and teaches you about sake in the PNW. Close to 100 different sakes will be available to taste, plus you can meet the makers. There will be activities, demos, artists and cultural activities, too, as well as local food, coffee, snack and treat vendors. Enjoy lunch and snacks starting at 1pm; sake tasting from 2pm to 5pm. 20% of ticket revenues are donated to elder lunch and community program Ikoi no Kai. Kells Portland Irish Festival

Billed as “the biggest outdoor Asian food & culture festival in the U.S.,” Portland is now one of 15 cities that host Panda Fest. This is the first year it’s happening in Portland. They expect to offer 200+ Asian street food dishes from across Asia, live cultural performances, Panda merch, a free Portland Panda Pin + headband with ticket purchase, and a 15-foot inflatable giant panda.
