Screencap from Serina Leedy representing Fresh Love on KGW’s “Hello, Rose City!” segment today.
Back in June of this year, Fresh Love opened to the public in Roseway, in the old Red Gate space on NE Fremont. Ben Cutler and Serina Leedy, Fresh Love’s owners, have totally transformed the space, with a vegetable mural circling the insides; new bench seating; a bright, light-filled dining room; and lots of delicious things, prepared and otherwise.

Click for video page on the KGW website—their segment starts around 18:30.
It was a lot of fun to see Serina make an appearance for a segment on KGW’s “Hello, Rose City!” show. She was on set with host Lacey Evans, and spread of things you’ll find at Fresh Love—which has expanded since I wrote about them this past summer. They’ve got salads, sandwiches, baked goods, smoothies, juices, coffee, and a selection of grocery items: fresh produce, eggs, cheese, chocolates, fermented food and drink. There is also local art for sale.

Serina explained how much of their offerings are or are made with local products, which is important to the ethos of Fresh Love. It is also developing as a community space as well, where you can meet and gather (I’ve been to a Rocky Butte Farmers Market planning meeting there and it was very nice). Fresh Love also has started doing some catering, so hit them up if you need food for any meetings or events.
Along with all the edible items, I learned that Fresh Love is hosting a mini Roseway Neighborhood Makers Market on Tuesday, December 6, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. They will feature local artists, including a couple that I really like: Olander Earthworks and Shane Reaney Studio, both of which do wonderful work in pottery/ceramics. This is going to be a great opportunity to pick up some local art for a gift—or for yourself.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences at Fresh Love—their food is so tasty and fresh, the pantry items are well curated (I will be returning soon for some cheese and a Honey Mama’s Tahini Tangerine bar that is so freaking good), and the staff is friendly. Their recent fall salad was excellent, and a special, so be sure to look on the board for any seasonal items they have to offer. I also saw on the video that Serina recommends a spoonful of peanut butter in The Eugene Smoothie—I’ll have to give that a try.
So head on over to Fresh Love for a tasty meal and treats to take home. I’m really glad they are in the area! And congrats on the KGW spot!
