Bridgetown Bites is basically about Portland food news and views in the beautiful state Oregon in the glorious Pacific Northwest. It was founded in 2016 as an Instagram account, then expanded to a website in 2017.
The Publisher, Meg Cotner
This website is published, written, and edited by me, Meg Cotner, a freelance writer and editor based in Portland, Oregon’s east side. I have been writing about food online for close to 20 years, and am the author of the guidebook, Food Lovers’ Guide to Queens (2012, Globe Pequot Press). I wrote my first real restaurant review back in 2007 about the wonderful casual panini restaurant in Astoria, Queens, Il Bambino.
I like eating flavorful food, cooking from both recipes and by improvisation, harvesting berries in my backyard, growing a summer garden, and drinking coffee every day. I’m also a breast cancer survivor.
I’ve eaten good food throughout the U.S., in Mexico, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Belgium, and the glorious borough of Queens—which is kind of like traveling the world: Greece, Colombia, Brazil, Korea, Nepal, and Uzbekistan, for starters. I make a point to explore my current city, eat at new/new-to-me restaurants, and support my favorite haunts. If life gave me lemons, I’d probably ferment them.
What We Cover
Here on Bridgetown Bites, we cover restaurants, bars, cafes, food trucks, events, and offer some opinion pieces. We are light on restaurant reviews, heavy on restaurant etc. openings and closings news. We create lists of varying kinds, including those for annual festivals in the Portland, Oregon metro area.
