A regional food hub and project called Food Loop Northwest is hoping to expand from their current offices into the larger capacity of the old BridgePort Brewery and Pub space. BridgePort operated for many years in the historic Portland Cordage Building in the Pearl District.
Back in June 2024, a Bridgetown Bites tipster sent me a note that they spotted a liquor license application posted at a building on SE 28th Avenue and Division for Schilling Cider House PDX. I looked into it, and over time and multiple emails I learned that Schilling is indeed moving to a new spot there on Division, with the aim to open this April.
I had a chance to speak with Colin Schilling about the new cider house, and here is what I learned.
The first photo ever of a cricket match (click to enlarge).
A new sports bar called Sticky Wicket will open in the old Park Tap House space in St. Johns. Its aim is to be the primary sports bar in Portland for cricket fans, but other international sports will also be shown, along with good food and drink. I reached out to the owner, Michael Rasko, to learn more.
Out with the old, in with the news. This former Arrowood space will become Paqui Modern Mexican. Photo credit: Google Maps.
A new Mexican restaurant called Paqui Modern Mexican will open in the old Arrowood location. It’s still a mystery as to why they closed, but the bottom line is that this storefront is going to have a new tenant in its good-sized property, which extends all the way to the corner of NE Sandy and 59th.
Mayor Millie will be there at this Saturday’s event!
A new cocktail bar from Kachka is coming this summer. The Portland Business Journal reports that Kachka will open a “full bar concept” in what was the Aimsir Distilling space. Aimsir closed in early January; you may be aware of the tension between them and Jade Rabbit, who are now operating on SE Belmont and 23rd.
Anyway, the article indicates that “[Owner Bonnie] Morales had already leased 2,100 square feet in the same building for a production facility. Half of that space was earmarked for distilling Kachka’s horseradish vodka. The vodka production started in the new space in February, Morales said. By taking over the Aimsir lease, Kachka is adding another 1,500 square feet, but more importantly, the space comes with a fully built out kitchen and distilling equipment.” No name for the bar yet, but I’ll keep an eye on it. 2117 NE Oregon Street, Portland
