A lot of tidbits crossed my desk this week, so it’s time for another Small Bites. Let’s go!

Bar Asha closed temporarily. This successor to The Sudra posted on Instagram that they are taking time “to rethink what we do here.” I noticed comments are invisible, as they got some pretty intense reactions to the closing, some of which were pretty critical. Harder Day Coffee Is Opening a New Cafe in the Hollywood District

Well friends, this time it’s real—a coffee shop is indeed opening up in the building at NE Sandy Blvd and 46th Avenue. This time around it’s Harder Day Coffee—they’ll bring coffee, beer, and dessert in comfy digs, to the Hollywood District. I met up with Brody Day (and bonus: Allie Heckman, Director of Operations), one of the co-owners of Harder Day (and Steeplejack Brewing) to chat with him about what they have planned for the cafe, and see where they are in the process of opening.

Moully’s Will Join Carnelian Coffee With Wine

Last week I had a chance to speak with Sarah Dubrule about her new project called Moully’s. It will be a kind of a weekly wine pop-up at the new location of Carnelian Coffee in SE Portland’s Foster-Powell neighborhood. Moully’s will offer wines by the glass and bottle, as well as nibbles, and a chance for neighbors to have a local spot where they can have a glass and relax.
