Small Bites is a roundup post I put together when I have a plethora of Portland food news tidbits in any week. It’s sort of an expanded version of Four Things I Learned This Week but can be published on any day (and sometimes take the place of Four Things. if appropriate).
Today is Dolly Day. On Wednesday, September 23, City Council President Jamie Dunphy read the proclamation for Dolly Parton Day in Portland, which takes place today, September 25 (9/25, nine-to-five). Creo Chocolate Cedar Hills has opened. Their grand opening was Thursday, September 10. For the first week they are open, they will be donating 10% of their sales to the Beaverton Education Foundation. Dinger’s Deli is now at Wayfinder Beer. They have brought their vegan sandwiches there, and their menu will co-exist with the regular Wayfinder menu. “Dingers is famous for recreating classic, absurdly delicious, glorious NY-style meat sandwiches entirely from plants. Their house-made vegan meats are so convincing, so delicious, and so heavily praised that at some point we stopped asking questions and just started eating.” 304 SE 2nd Avenue, Portland

Taqueria Mexa is opening a second location. They’ll be taking over the Poblano Pepper space by PSU. They have a location on NE 82nd Avenue—right next to where Florence of Nana’s Exquisite Confections was (she’s got a new spot further down 82nd, opening soon)—and their food is really good. We took some home one day and absolutely loved it.
This is a great addition to Southwest Portland. They’ll be open every day starting at 10am, and closing at 8pm on Sundays, 9pm Monday through Thursday, and 10pm on Friday and Saturday. 1921 SW 6th Avenue, Portland
