Yesterday I became aware of something called “Dirty Drinks.” This nationwide bar and beverage fundraising campaign from Zero Foodprint focuses on the issue of soil health. Ten Portland food and drink businesses are participating this year.
Tip Top Burger Shop has closed—this is the location for Hey Luigi, coming soon.
A new restaurant from Gabriel Pascuzzi will open in Slabtown’s former Tip Top Burger Shop space. Called Hey Luigi, they’ll offer cocktails and food that goes well with cocktails (and beer, wine, and NA drinks). I spoke with Gabriel earlier this month and here is what I learned about him, and about Hey Luigi.
Proof Pizza, a Beaverton pizza cart, is opening a brick & mortar in Portland. They’ll be keeping the truck in Beaverton and expanding eastward to SE Portland, bringing their popular Chicago-style thin crust tavern pies with them. Look for them to be open initially the first week of September—a late night service window and pickup/delivery. Then in October they’ll have the full bar and restaurant up and running. The location? The old Pepper Box Cafe, which closed in 2023. 932 SE Morrison Street, Portland
Iced drinks at Portland Cà Phê, which I expect will resemble sone of the ones at Good Neighbor Cà Phê. Photo credit: Portland Cà Phê.
A new Vietnamese cafe called Good Neighbor Cà Phê (not to be confused with Brave Neighbor Coffeehouse) is officially opening in Northwest Portland on NW 23rd Avenue. It’s a sister cafe to one of Portland’s top Vietnamese coffee shops, Portland Cà Phê, as well as Better Days Cafe. At Good Neighbor, they will continue Kim Dam’s mission of “community, quality, and Vietnamese-inspired coffee culture.” They’ve been in soft opening mode for about a week, and will hold their grand opening tomorrow (Friday).
A new pizzeria will open in the South Waterfront neighborhood called Andiamo Pizzeria. Conceived as an upscale pizzeria “that brings together the spirit of global travel and authentic culinary artistry,” they will offer hand‐tossed, wood‐fired pies in the old Sweet Heart Pizza space in the Griffis South Waterfront apartment building.
