Tomorrow it starts: Dry January 2026 in Portland. This is a time of year when people take the opportunity to scale back on their alcohol drinking after the holiday season. It’s also a great time for those of us who do not drink alcohol on the regular to get out and try some new places and new booze-free drinks. For the sober-curious, it’s also an embarrassment of riches in a whole new world of drinking.

This year we thought we’d do a roundup of things to do and eat around the time the light starts to return—the Winter Solstice, of course, but also Christmas, and Hanukkah (here is this year’s roundup specific to the Festival of Lights). Valentine’s Day 2022 in Portland

If you can believe it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner—three weeks from today. A number of places in Portland are offering special prix fixe dinners, some are preparing to-go meal boxes, and pre-order sweets are being prepared by bakeries around town.

Unless otherwise specified, these meals are available only on February 14, and getting your reservation set sooner that later is recommended. Unfortunately, weather (see: 2021) and COVID can thwart things, so please double check the place you want to celebrate at before you head out.
