I learned late last Friday over on their Instagram page that Fallow’s Rest Wild has closed. Saturday, February 22 was their final day of service. While I was sorry to see them close, I understand their reasons, and can relate in a lot of ways.

Another month, another list of top 5 posts on Bridgetown Bites. It was another good month as far as traffic goes, with over 16,000 unique visitors generating close to 21,000 page views. Attention was on an interesting mix of things in July—openings, closings; new and old-ish posts; plus supermarkets.

5. Sweet & Salty PDX Opening in SE Portland
A new snack shop is coming to Portland’s Central Eastside district of the Buckman neighborhood in SE Portland: Sweet & Salty PDX. Their soft opening in pop-up form will take place tomorrow, Friday July 26. As their name indicates, they will be offering sweet and salty things to snack on, as well as a few more substantial items. Note: New hours are Tuesday to Thursday 10am to 6pm and Friday to Saturday 10am to 8pm. Their Instagram has more photos of the treats.

Bar Asha closed temporarily. This successor to The Sudra posted on Instagram that they are taking time “to rethink what we do here.” I noticed comments are invisible, as they got some pretty intense reactions to the closing, some of which were pretty critical. Truth be told, traffic was affected a lot after the March 2024 adjustment in Google’s “Helpful Content Update,” and … well … it’s been a real bummer. So, it means devoting some time to re-strategize. Still, over 9,300 unique visitors made it here and generated just under 12,000 page views for the month.

5. Get Ready for Fallow’s Restaurant, From the People Behind Bastion
The folks behind Bastion, a restaurant in Sellwood that shows you that food can be both healthy and delicious, are opening up a new restaurant, Fallow’s, just up the street in the old Relish Gastropub space. They will offer dinner service (Bastion closes at 4pm the days they are open). As a fan of Bastion, I’m pretty excited about this.
Update: They have launched a Kickstarter and it has a whole bunch of new information in it about the restaurant.
