A new bakery, focusing on the world of oatmeal cookies, will open tomorrow, June 7 on SE Belmont and 33rd. Nate’s Oatmeal Cookies will offer a number of variations on this American staple of a baked good—and is a kind of “pandemic success story,” if you will.

Good Times at SheBrew 2018 in Portland

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the fourth annual SheBrew, a beer, cider, and mead festival that features female-identifying brewers. One aspect of the event was to support the work of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) through the $20 admission cost. Full disclosure: I attended as media, so my access to the event was comped; however, I admire the work of the Human Rights Campaign, and after seeing them at the event I decided to set up a recurring monthly donation to them.

Delicious Highlights of My Sliver of Feast Portland 2017

It was a beautiful day at Friday’s Grand Tasting.

As you probably know by now, I only attended a couple of Feast events this year, while I was volunteering. Frankly, it was probably for the best because my work as a writer and editor elsewhere last week was nuts and would not allow for too much time off. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but it was an intense and busy time. Feast was a nice break—a chance to be outside, get some fresh air, and see a lot of delicious food and drink being enjoyed by happy people… including me!
