About a month after temporarily closing for its highly anticipated move, Gumba Pasta Parlor is gearing up for its next chapter. While fans and locals await their reopening, the Bridgetown Bites team got a sneak peek of Gumba’s new space and wanted to share a preview. It’s still under construction, but here’s a glimpse at what’s taking shape ahead of Gumba’s exciting reopening later this month.

Sebastiano’s Opens in Sellwood

Sebastiano’s soft opening in Sellwood is today.

Sebastiano’s—that wonderful Sicilian/Italian-American shop, bakery, and deli that started out in Montavilla in 2020—has fully moved to Sellwood. Their grand opening is Thursday, March 7, but they had a soft opening today. I stopped by and was so happy to see how the business has been able to expand and flourish in this much larger space on SE 13th Avenue.

Farewell, Cooperativa

The news of Cooperativa’s closing has made the rounds in local food media this week, and said news remains an unfortunate reality. Cooperativa was—IS—an important part of the new-ish Italian market scene here in Portland, and it’s departure will leave a big hole in the city’s food scene. This is their final week; they close Saturday, September 3.
