The end of Wilderton is a sad state of affairs. Here's their final product. We will miss them.

The end of Wilderton. Bummer news about this NA distiller in Hood River. They closed their tasting room in August 2025 and the distillery will close at the end of January. One of the founders, Brad Whiting, said this: “We endeavoured to find a new steward of the brand for the past several months, but alas none worked out so the brand/IP etc will be shelved in the hopes to be resurrected at some point in the future. The distillery and tasting room are now closed and decommissioned.” More details here.

All next week, from Monday, June 10 to Sunday, June 16, enjoy various interpretations and variations of the strawberry shortcake around Portland (with a few spots in McMinville, Oregon City, and Salem). Produced by the James Beard Public Market, it is now in its third year.

Small Bites – Kolaches, Arrowood, Pix Patisserie, Snackfest, and More

Although this has been a light content week, a variety of tidbits crossed my desk this week, so instead of Four Things for Friday, here are some small bites.

Celebrate with Capitola tonight. Capitola Coffee is hosting an open house party tonight: “Hey friends we are hosting an open house along with Waechter Architecture to launch the opening of our new space. We hope you can stop by on Friday, July 8 from 6 pm to midnight.” This is kind of a big deal, as Capitola is located in an all wood CLT building. Their soft opening is planned for mid-July with full opening in August. 4224 N Mississippi Avenue, Portland
