Blasphemy BBQ, a new place to get barbecue, is coming soon to Portland at the Flying Tortoise food cart pod on NE Glisan Street on the edge of Laurelhurst. They’ll offer a new style of barbecue that they think is worth your time and tastebuds. I reached out to co-ownerJenny Nickolaus to learn more about their new ‘cue vision.

Fat Milo’s Will Open a Second Location in NE Portland

A Bridgetown Bites tipster reached out to tell me they had come across a posted liquor license application for a restaurant called Fat Milo’s. They will open up in the old Morchella space, bringing comforting diner food— with ingredients sourced from local farmers and makers—to NE Fremont and 13th Avenue, one of my favorite corners of the city.

Alma PDX, a New Balkan and Turkish Restaurant, Is Coming to NE Portland

I recently became aware of a new restaurant called Alma PDX (not to be confused with Alma Chocolates), which will move into the old Masala Lab space when it vacates at the end of January. It looks to be a Balkan and Turkish restaurant, a cuisine that is less common in Portland than a lot of other places.

I’ve updated this article since it was initially published, but I’m still here to share with you the fruits of my additional research on Alma.

Masala Lab Will Close in Portland

This morning a friend let me know that Masala Lab, a brick-and-mortar restaurant from Deepak Saxena, will close later this month. They announced the news on their social channels in the early hours of the morning. Additionally, the DesiPDX cart will close and go on a short break later this month, reopening at the end of January.

Sincerely Bagel Is Setting Up Shop in Portland

While over at Providore last weekend (they have finger limes!), I noticed a new sign up on the old Tails & Trotters space: Sincerely, Bagel. My first thought was, “Whoa, something new here!” And then it was, “Awww, so cute!” The logo is adorable. Note 12/28/24: we have updated this post significantly since it was originally published.
