On Friday afternoon I stopped by Tréla Greek Kitchen and Taverna at the invitation of Napoleon Tzakis, to have a look-see at the dining room and learn additional details about the restaurant.
While I was out of the office yesterday (a cancer survivor’s work is never done), the news dropped that Bang Bang, a sweet little spot that serves “Thai-inspired” food on NE Fremont—in what is technically Cully but feels more like Beaumont-Wilshire—is closing this month. The food and drink there, in my experience, is quite tasty, and I’m sorry to see them go.
This is news I’ve been meaning to write about since early November: Domingo’s, a new restaurant from the Santo Domingo Taqueria folks, is arriving on NE Glisan in the space previously occupied by Pollo Norte.

The Lime Stand, which offers hand-smashed lime tea, is open on NE Alberta in the old Kulfi space. There you can enjoy a variety of unique drinks, ones you really can’t find anywhere else in Portland. I reached out to Jimmy and Elaine, owners of The Lime Stand, to learn more about them and their arrival in the Alberta Arts District.

Great news: Spella Caffè is opening a location in Woodblock Chocolate, located in NE Portland’s Irvington neighborhood. There, they’ll bring coffee, pastries, and gelato to Woodblock’s chocolate in a “cozy and inviting” cafe space.
