I’m so pleased to tell you that the Rocky Butte Farmers Market is returning, in its second year of weekly markets starting on Saturday, June 3. There will be affordable locally grown foods and artisan products, as well as weekly children’s activities, live entertainment, and a dog-friendly, energetic block party vibe! I’m super chuffed for this.

I saw the news this week about vendor applications for the Rocky Butte Farmers Market and it warmed my heart. I’m so glad they’ll be back again for another season of weekly markets. I really enjoyed shopping there last year.

Last night as I opened my Instagram app, I saw the news from James Helms, owner of Rocky Butte Coffee Roasters: “We are being evicted from our espresso bar on 12/31.” I could hardly believe it. The espresso bar is an important part of the Madison South community, it’s hard to imagine it not being there.

This Saturday is the penultimate market day of the Rocky Butte Farmers Market, located right on the Rocky Butte itself. It’s been so satisfying to see this market grow and establish itself as a vibrant community space, providing access to all sorts of high-quality local foods and products convenient to the neighborhoods of Madison South, Roseway and Sumner neighborhoods.
