The 6th annual Tomato Fest is four hours of tomatoey goodness on a blocked off street in Southeast Portland—and buckwheat will be joining the chat this year. More details below.

The Fifth Annual Tomato Fest is almost here!
Tomato Fest, which has been produced by the folks at Wellspent Market since 2021, is now in its fifth year—and in a different location than the inaugural fest. As we humans love our anniversaries and birthdays that end in a “5” or a “0,” I’m happy to tell you about this year’s celebration and appreciation of my favorite nightshade.

Thanks to the good folks at Slow Food Portland, I’ve learned that their next Fill Your Pantry PDX Summer Pop-Up is focused on one of the most beloved summer vegetables, the tomato. When I was at the Fremont Fest this past weekend, I saw a sign out in front of Grand Central Baking Company about a BLT. I love BLTs.
At first I thought it might have been a Fremont Fest special, but upon closer look on their ordering website, I learned it was a regular seasonal thing—meaning available for a limited time but not just for the one day of the Fest.
