National Pasta Day Means Free Pasta From Montelupo

Did you know that National Pasta Day is celebrated every October 17?  It’s true and has been since 1995, when the World Pasta Congress met. This year, you can celebrate the day at Montelupo Italian Market, where they are giving out a free pound of their boxed dried pasta with each market purchase or dinner order.

Montelupo’s pasta is made with bronze dies—considered the gold standard in pasta extruding—in five shapes: cavatappi (my favorite), fusilli, penne, radiatore, and shells. The pasta dough is made with durum wheat from Shepherd’s Grain here on the west coast.

They are also doing a raffle on Sunday—enter and you will have the chance to win a  year’s supply of fresh and dried pasta throughout calendar year 2022. They’ll announce the winner (randomly selected) on social media and via email on Thursday, October 21.

Have you been by Montelupo recently? They have all sorts of tasty things to offer, including pasta sauces, Italian canned/bottled goods (including good olive oil), prepared foods, cheeses and charcuterie, and some crazy delicious sweet things like chocolate budino, tiramisu, and olive oil cake. Plus wines and some interesting non-alcoholic beverages. You can buy a bunch of things to go, or eat any of their menu dishes in their heated outdoor covered patio. As an aside, I’m looking forward to seeing what they offer later this year as far as Panettone for the holiday season.

Montelupo is open this Saturday & Sunday (National Pasta Day!) from noon to 8:30pm and weekdays from 4pm to 8:30pm. See you there!
