I consider spring to be “the most wonderful time of the year” when it comes to being able to order salmon shares from Iliamna Fish Co. This multi-generational family-owned cooperative fishes in Bristol Bay, Alaska, and opened access to ordering their Portland shares today. If you like salmon, this is a great opportunity to access high-quality fish in a community supported fashion.

Right now you an order two kinds of shares—a summer share and a winter share.

Summer Share

Summer Share options include:

Full-Share of Full Fillets (21 lbs) – $296
Full-Share of Portion Fillets (21 lbs) – $318
Case of canned Salmon 3.5oz (24) – $90

Hey, There’s Cod This Year!

The Alaskan Cod is new this year, and here’s a little background on that:

“We are offering wild Alaskan cod from a special long-line vessel that is owned by the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (of which some of us are shareholders). This vessel has a state-of-the-art fillet machine on board allowing it to produce the freshest cod fillets available. The cod is MSC certified sustainable, and a Seafood Watch ‘best choice’ option due to the careful harvesting and biologically sound management practices.”

You can read my post from last year about Iliamna and their fishing practices. I got some of the canned salmon last year and absolutely loved it. It’s a quick, easy source of delicious high-quality protein—so convenient. The introduction of the Alaska Cod share into the mix is also exciting.
