It’s the end of an era: King Harvest Hummus is moving out of their space on SE Morrison. They’ve occupied that location since 1986, complete with a drive-thru window that they opened in 2009. Their final day in the Buckman neighborhood is Friday, August 30.
They posted on their social media, the following:
“For 48 years, King Harvest has been a beloved part of Portland, starting as a small hippie grocery on 24th and Ankeny in 1976. Thanks to all your hummus love, we’ve grown so much that we’ve outgrown our space!”
So yes, their next step is to move into a bigger space, which they need in order to be able to produce their hummus to the capacity they need and want. And this space is going to be at Pacific Coast Fresh on NE 2nd Avenue in Portland. Unfortunately, that means you can’t buy hummus direct anymore.
According to their historical timeline, when they relocated to SE Morrison in 1986, they focused on juice production. They also produced pita pocket sandwiches, and, of course, their hummus. But in 1996 they decided that hummus was the name of the game, and they chose to focus on that. They opened the drive-thru window in 2009 and then in 2023, Pacific Coast Fruit Company acquired King Harvest.
So you have until August 30 to stop by, enjoy the drive-thru, and the ability to buy the hummus from the source. Of course you’ll be able to buy their products at local grocery stores, but honestly—it’s just not the same. The drive-thru hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to noon. And they have deals on hummus right now!
Farewell, King Harvest—you will be missed on SE Morrison. Best of luck at the new location.

I wonder who will move in to the old location. Portland isn’t approving new drive-thru windows, making existing ones a hot commodity.
I, too, wonder what will go in next. I’ll keep an eye on it.
