I’m happy to write here about the East Side Dining Guide (full disclosure: I work on the committee that has put the East Side Dining Guide together). A project of the 82nd Avenue Business Association, it’s a guide and map that focuses on the restaurants, bars, cafes, and food carts along 82nd Avenue: from Cully in the north to Brentwood-Darlington in the south.
The East Side Dining Guide Is Here To Help
If you have read Bridgetown Bites over the years, you know I have written about the Around the World in 82 Dishes event. That happened annually during a defined time period and implemented a passport program. This Dining Guide is kind of the progeny of that project.
The East Side Dining Guide’s aim is to help you find new-to-you places to eat all up and down 82nd Avenue via a simple presentation (a PDF map). There is truly excellent cuisine here, created by people from around the world who would love to feed you.
As they say, eat global, stay local.
Accessing the East Side Dining Guide
The aforementioned PDF version of the map is below. A BabbleBuy version, which lives in the app, is more interactive. Access it at this BabbleBuy link, or go into the app and enter the code EASTSIDEDINE.
And if you want a physical map, it’s available at these locations:
- Portland International Airport, 7000 NE Airport Way, Portland
- University of Western States, 8000 NE Tillamook Street, Portland
- CORE Food Carts on 82nd Avenue, 3612 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland
You can also anticipate accessing the map at select local Portland hotels in the future, too.
Some Favorites on 82nd Avenue
Eating along and nearby 82nd Avenue is an exercise in deliciousness. And, no surprise, I have my favorites. Some of them include:
- Cameo Cafe (American/Korean)
- Mekong Bistro (Cambodian)
- Ki’ikibáa (Yucatecan)
- Phở Oregon (Vietnamese)
- HA VL (Vietnamese)
- Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine at CORE (Burmese)
- East Glisan Pizza Lounge (Pizza)
- Bipartisan Cafe (Coffee House/Bakery)
- Ya Hala (Middle Eastern)
I can’t get over how there are so many great places left to try! Just looking at the map makes me want to start making lists of places to stop in and eat at.
So I hope you will check out the East Side Dining Guide, make your own lists of places where you’d like to eat, drop over to 82nd Ave, and consume the tasty in East Portland.
