This category used to feature a weekly events calendar, but that is no more. At this point it’s more about individual eventshappening in the Portland, OR area.
Got something going on? I’d still like to know about it. Submit an event, here.
After a two-year hiatus, this family-friendly event returns. It’s a chance to spend some time in beautiful Montavilla, hang out with friends and neighbors, and enjoy food, live music, and more.
I’m pretty chuffed that the Rocky Butte Farmers Market is returning this weekend for its first season of weekly markets. The Market will operate this Saturday from 9am to 1pm in the Mannahouse Church parking lot in Portland’s beautiful Madison South neighborhood.
Although we often talk about pie-making around the fall and winter holidays, spring and summer are also the times of the year when pie is the perfect vehicle to support the deluge of delicious seasonal fruits (and some vegetables) that happens then (now!)—whether you buy them in the grocery store or the farmers market, get them in your CSA box, or grow your own. The Pacific NW CSA (PNWCSA) Coalition is here to help you get the most out of your pie-making with a masterclass in June, with help with both pie pastry and fillings.
It might be a rainy day on Saturday, but that shouldn’t deter you.
When I first moved to Portland, I lived in the Hollywood District and would shop at the Hollywood Farmers Market on the weekends. It’s a great market—lots of different kinds of vendors selling produce, meats, prepared food, plants, and more, plus live music! It operates year-round, too. This weekend they are celebrating 25 years in business, and you can party with them this Saturday, May 28!
Last year I remember coming across something called the “Portland Strawberry Museum” and wondering, “what the heck was that?” I mean, what a great name! Is there some kind of museum dedicated to strawberries in Portland? Turns out it was a month of Saturdays in June of celebrating the strawberry, from Brittany Sigal’s Zuckercreme (then a popup). It is back this year for the entire month of June at her space in Montavilla.
