Back in July 2017 I wrote about my excitement regarding the opening of H Mart, the very popular Korean grocery store chain, in the old Zupan’s space on Belmont. Since then I certainly wondered what was up. Today I have a better idea. Portland Business Journal wrote, “according to an emailed response from the company in Tigard, H Mart is shooting for an early March opening for the new store.”  Continue reading “Progress at H Mart Belmont in Portland”

Earlier this week, I mentioned that a restaurant named Gado Gado will move into the now-shuttered My Canh space later this year. And I wondered if it was the same one as the robust and popular Asian food pop-up. Today I learned via Eater that Portland Monthly confirms it.

One of my morning walks sometimes takes me up the Alameda Ridge, usually for a stop in at the NE Fremont location of Prince Coffee (I love their lattes and the aroma of fresh made stroopwafels). On a recent jaunt up the Ridge I noticed that Thrive had closed (I so enjoyed their healthy salads and bowls) and a “Eurocafé and bakery” named Anchor End is moving in.

Happy New Year!

Back in May 2018, I posted about taking a break from the blog due to some health issues. Although it has taken longer than I expected to get back in the swing of things, I’m happy to say that my health is much improved and and as under control as possible. The time is right to get back to food writing, something I’ve missed.

So what happened? In April I was diagnosed with stage 2A breast cancer. Continue reading “The Return of Bridgetown Bites”
