It’s been a month since the Bun Bandits debuted their tasty treats in SW Portland’s Multnomah Village. Founded by Sarah Lyman and Mackenzie Pentico, who first met while working at Dutch Bros, this handmade kolache and malasadas cart has quickly taken Portland by storm. Their sweet and savory buns regularly sell out within hours, prompting the duo to scale operations and adapt to growing demand quickly.

Division Street Dairy Queen Appeal: In Favor of the Applicant

Just last week I was wondering about the results of the February 25, 2026 appeal regarding the Division Street Dairy Queen and its drive-thru. On Friday afternoon, a reader sent me the decision made by the Hearings Officer—and it was in favor of the Applicant, Mohan Grewal. In the words of Hearings Officer Marisha Childs, “The Appellant did not prevail in this appeal.”

Hearth & Vine opened yesterday. We covered this restaurant last year when it was shrouded in mystery. I can’t deny that doing the research at the time was a lot of fun, uncovering details incrementally. There are a couple of publications that got the first bite of info right before Hearth & Vine opened, but here’s a condensed version of the press release we received yesterday, with tidbits we think you’d like to know.

Fwi Makes Coffee and Banana Bread in North Portland

While driving home from the laundromat recently, I saw a sign by the Dawnbringer Breakfast cart on N Fremont and Vancouver for something called “Fwi.” A couple days later, a reader messaged me about them. I checked their Instagram: Coffee with molasses? Banana breads of varying kinds? I was intrigued. So, I called up Div Walker, the owner of Fwi—sometimes referred to as the Fwi Bus or Fwi Cafe—to learn more.
