Portland loves to eat and celebrate its food and drink. Here is a simple list of annual Portland Food and Drink Festivals and select events, with brief descriptions. Specific dates are movable but the month stays fairly stable from year to year—check the event’s website for exact details on that. This is a gamified monthly celebration of Portland’s restaurants. First, you purchase an entree from any of the 80+ participating restaurants; then collect a Ticket to Dine; and finally, have a chance to win prizes. Baker’s Dozen Coffee Beer & Doughnut Festival

Combining three of the things Portland is known for—coffee, beer, and donuts—this festival allows you to sample coffee beers, coffee, and donuts. You also go home with a souvenir glass. To drink you must be 21+ but all family members can attend. This is a ticketed event that sells out quickly.

WasabiFest

This festival is dedicated to “spotlighting wasabi as a dynamic and versatile ingredient beyond its traditional role in Japanese cuisine.” There, you’ll get to learn how to “incorporate wasabi into a variety of dishes, from savory to sweet, with the added bonus of premium saké samplings from both Oregon and Japan.” You’ll get to taste things with wasabi in it, sample saké, and watch live cooking demonstrations.
