Easter 2026 is Sunday, April 5—a couple of weeks earlier this year compared to last year. And this year, western and Orthodox Easter do not fall on the same day (they are a week apart, with Orthodox Easter arriving on the 12th of April). There are plenty of tasty ways to enjoy Easter Sunday in Portland: from chocolate bunnies to hot cross buns, brunch buffets to a takeaway French Toast kit, and more.

Missionary Chocolates Will Open in Portland’s Hollywood District

More good news from the Hollywood District: It appears that Missionary Chocolates will open in the old Just “4” Kids space next to the Sonder Listening Bar. This is on the heels of the news of Bar Hollywood opening recently; seems that things are looking up in the neighborhood.

Eat Unsweetened Chocolate in Portland

I like to eat unsweetened chocolate bars and I like it. Yes, that’s the 100% cacao product with no sugar added—not even alternatives like coconut sugar, allulose, monk fruit, or stevia. You are probably thinking, “What is wrong with this gurl?!?”

I know this might be a hard sell for some of you reading this—and I know it’s a controversial take, esoteric at best—but I am here to encourage you to take a chance on it. In exchange, you get a payoff of deep cacao flavor, complex tasting notes, and a new chocolate experience.

Toasted S’mores Bar Will Open in Downtown Portland

Over the weekend I had the pleasure to speak with Nico Vergara about his newest project, Toasted S’mores Bar. It will open in the same location as the abruptly shuttered 1927 S’mores Company in downtown Portland.
