Passover 2026 begins on the evening of Wednesday, April 1 and runs through Thursday, April 9. This Jewish high holiday of liberation is traditionally celebrated with a Seder, a ritual meal held on the first two nights of Passover, where family and friends gather to retell the story of the Exodus. Some of the foods you can expect to see at a Seder include matzo (a flat dry unleavened cracker), bitter herbs, charoset (a paste of nuts, apples, and wine), and four cups of wine.

Small Bites: Loncheria Los Mayas, Soen, 28 Tigers, and More

The Loncheria Los Mayas truck has moved. I drove by the corner of NE Prescott and 42nd the other day and noticed that the Loncheria Los Mayas truck was no longer there. The property has been sold, too, in September 2025. However, I since learned that the taco truck folks have consolidated into their location on NE Alberta. And a neighbor said, “They will hopefully have a 42nd Ave location early next spring.” Meanwhile, enjoy their delicious Yucatecan food on NE Alberta. 2515 NE Alberta Street, Portland

Dream Deli Will Open in Southeast Portland

Over the summer I had heard talk about Dream Deli—it’s a new deli that is influenced by the owners’ Jewish and Italian heritages, opening on SE Division Street. I was definitely intrigued, and wanted to learn more—in part because if there’s one thing Portlanders are clamoring for, it’s a Jewish deli.

I reached out to Jessie Levine, one of the owners, who brought along John Bissell, the other owner, to our conversation. Here is what I learned from them.
