Ancestro brunch returns. As they said, “dinner is taking a little nap for now” (it may return periodically) and they are focusing on brunch at the moment. Head there—they are inside Commensal Fermentation—Thursday through Sunday from 9am to 1pm for their delicious brunch offerings. 3901 N Williams Avenue, Suite A, Portland
Feast Utopia has soft opened in Clackamas. This Asian fusion restaurant offers AYCE hot pot, sushi, and Korean BBQ. You can choose among three tiers: Silver Tier ($39.95/person), Gold Tier ($49.95/person), and Diamond Tier ($65.95/person). This video by Amy Xu does a nice job of showing what it all looks like. 13011 84th Avenue, Clackamas
PDX Fermentation Festival returns this year. Stinkfest is back, so save the date! It will be on Thursday, October 22 from 6pm to 9pm, again at the Ecotrust building. Ticket will become available in the early fall; kids 12 and under get in for free. Here’s our previous coverage of the PDX Fermentation Fest. 721 NW 9th Avenue, Portland
Burgerlandia has opened at 1847 Food Park. They started things up there on Saturday, July 4. 1925 SE Scott Street, Milwaukie
And speaking of the 1847 Food Park—their grand opening is this month! They’ve been operating for a little while in soft opening mode (here’s our coverage right as they opened) and now they are ready for their grand opening on Saturday, July 25, so save the date. “We’re planning to have festive music, activities, and a craft market that you can enjoy alongside our food cart and tap house offerings throughout the day.”
Meanwhile, stop on in and check out the range of food carts, enjoy the fire pit, grab a drink at the bar, and check out the third floor, if you can. 1925 SE Scott Street, Milwaukie
Gorge pear crops are in trouble. It’s “the worst pear psylla infestation reported by many Gorge growers in nearly half a century,” according to Governor Kotek’s office. She has requested federal disaster relief (e.g., emergency credit available through a disaster designation) for Oregon pear growers.
Apparently excessive heat, low snowpack, and constrained irrigation supply have added to the problem; the closure of a Del Monte cannery in Yakima, Washington has also contributed to the mess. Drazan wants farmers to take out zero-interest loans but that still equals debt. Bottom line, it’s bad news. The pear is Oregon’s state fruit. Columbia Gorge
Fresh tortillas at La Oaxaqueña. Thanks to a tip from Desi PDX’s Deepak Saxena, we’ve learned that beloved Mexican tienda La Oaxaqueña sells homemade tortillas every Saturday and Sunday. You’ll also find fresh tamales there most days, too. 4736 NE Cully Blvd, Portland
Steam Rice Roll King has a new menu. You can see what they offer these days, here. My favorite part of the menu is the selection of stone rice noodle bowl; glad to see the sweet corn rice roll is still on the menu, and now I see they have a version with egg, plus a couple with additions of ground pork or Spam. Definitely stop in at Steam Rice Roll King if you haven’t been by in a while (or have never been)! 11003 SE Division Street, Portland
That Dave’s Hot Chicken in NW Portland opens today. Yesterday was the soft opening. This was for many years the home to Santa Fe Taqueria. 839 NW 23rd Street, Portland
The Leaky Roof has closed. The Oregonian first reported the news. There was a sign on the door that said “Until further notice, The Leaky Roof will no longer be open. We are all very saddened by this, but very grateful to our loyal customers. We will miss you!”
A reporter from KGW asked about the reasons why they closed and a representative from The Leaky Roof responded with, “Rising costs, less daily foot traffic, less business, the entire city and county being oblivious to the challenges of small businesses and over regulating while under supporting.”
They’d been in this space since 1947, almost 80 years. Truly a shame to see them go. 1538 SW Jefferson Street, Portland
Like Cel-Ray? Dream Deli has your number. They’ve created their own version of this iconic Dr. Brown’s soda, made with celery seeds, limes and lemons, ginger, and brown sugar. 3542 SE Division Street, Portland
Pink Rabbit has closed. The bar in Northwest Portland announced the closure yesterday. In a public statement they wrote, “The truth is, the operating environment for independent bars and restaurants in Portland has become brutal.”
Fewer people are out and spending money. Fewer people are drinking alcohol. Rent is nuts. Everything is expensive for customers, and those running the bars and restaurants. This economy is whack, engineered by small minded people, and the fallout from bad decision-making continues to pile up.
Pink Rabbit wrote, “If you have a favorite bar or restaurant here in Portland, now is the time to show up for them. Every visit matters more than you know.” 232 NW 12th Avenue, Portland
Camp opens tomorrow. On Saturday, July 11, Camp opens. This is a new gay bar opening in the old Scandals space; Scandals closed last year after being in this spot for 46 years. They moved across the river, transforming into Scandals East. Festivities take places from 4pm to 2am on Saturday. 1125 SW Harvey Milk Street, Portland
La Bambina is back. This Mexican-Italian pop-up is back after quite a spell away. They’ll be at Han Oak on Monday and Tuesday, July 13 and 14 with food and cocktails. Participating chefs include Anthony Haber, Chris Vela, Gabriella Martinez, and Katsumi Manabe.
You can see their menu—all a la carte—on Instagram, which includes large and small plates, cocktails, jello shots, and dessert. No reservations necessary. 511 NE 24th Avenue, Portland
D’s Knots is popping up at Steeplejack. On Saturday, July 11 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, head to the Steeplejack location in SW Portland where D’s Knots will be serving their signature salty knots and homemade dipping sauces. They’ll also have discounted frozen four-packs available for sale. 4339 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Portland
Kaleido Coffee + Buttercoop Bakery this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12 from 10am to sold out, Kaleido Coffee will host a Buttercoop Bakery pop-up. They’ll bring tasty treats, including their Korean salt breads, sheet cakes, and other Asian-inspired pastries and desserts. 2112 NW Quimby Street, Portland
Sugarpine Drive-In celebrates 8 years. On Sunday, July 12 is their annual Birthday BBQ. There will be “one-day-only specials, anniversary treats, and music all afternoon.” That food includes the Huli Huli Cheeseburger, $8 slushies, and all-day sundaes. DJ Rev Shines and IZM will be spinning. No reservations, just show up. 1208 E. Historic Columbia River Hwy, Troutdale
Sad Valley is three. Last week this atmospheric bar turned three at their space on N Killingsworth. The celebrated with feet in cake. 832 N Killingsworth Street, Portland
Kachka Fabrika turns one with strawberry vodka. They’ll be releasing their Kachka Strawberry Vodka in honor of their first year in business. They wrote about it on their Instagram:
“We are booked with reservations on Sunday night, but stop by to get your Strawberry Vodka bottles (each bottle purchased comes with a free collectible strawberry vodka glass!), enjoy special treats, and hit up our icy cold ceviche station, right outside in our parking lot! ALSO—NO BOTTLE LIMITS, so you can stock up for all of your summer adventures!”
You’ll also be able to find their strawberry vodka at Kachka Lavka starting on Sunday. 2117 NE Oregon Street, Suite 202, Portland
Level Beer turns 9 and Bun Bandits will join them. We mentioned this previously but I wanted to make sure you knew that Bun Bandits—a super popular food cart selling kolaches and malasadas—will be there at Level’s spot in East Portland for the celebration. Saturday, July 11 from 1pm to 5pm. 5211 NE 148th Avenue, Portland
And Montavilla Brew Works celebrates 11 years. And they’ve released a few special brews for the occasion. First, there’s a special dry-hopped Anniversary Pilsner at 5.2% ABV, which is a one-time variation on Plywood Pilsner. It features German Mittelfrüh hops along with Oregon-grown Meridian hops from Indie Hops.
A portion of proceeds from its sale will go to a community fundraiser to benefit Friends of Seasonal & Service Workers. Mr. Plywood will match MBW’s contribution.
Two other anniversary brews: Lesh Is More, a 6.0% ABV India Pale Ale, was created in memory of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and is brewed with Amarillo, El Dorado and Mosaic hops. Peregrin is a 6.8% ABV porter aged with Palo Santo wood.
They are celebrating their 11 years this Saturday, July 11 from 3pm to 9pm with an all-ages party. Additionally, there will be an Oi! The Sausage pop-up and DJ MD spinning vinyl. 7805 SE Stark Street, Portland

The Mississippi Street Fair is tomorrow. This is a major Portland event every year. There will be over 150 vendors, food (including a Grandfather Rib-off Competition), live music, kids zones, promotions from Mississippi Ave businesses, fun, and a great time for all from 10am to 8pm. N Mississippi Ave between N Fremont Street and N Skidmore Street
Sip and Forage will open Saturday, August 15. I saw the headline on the PBJ but they have a paywall, so I will set that aside for now. This is a new food cart pod at the shuttered Wells Fargo Bank on SW 5th Avenue. It’s been in process for at least two years. It was compared to The Heist last back in 2024, which is understandable, as the configuration of an old bank with a parking lot is similar.
They have room for 24 carts; 18 spaces are leased. Sounds like the bar, which at one point was going to be called Extra Credit, is not moving forward. It would have been inside the old bank. 1900 SW 5th Avenue, Portland
A taste of Japan at Cowbell this afternoon. Three Japanese food producers will be at Cowbell from 3pm to 6pm today: Yugeta (soy sauce), Wadaman (premium sesame), and Nitto Jozo (Shirotamari, AKA white tamari). There will be samples, a chance to meet the makers, and learn how to incorporate these products into your home cooking. 231 SE Alder Street, Portland
Wear your costume at Gnome & Faerie’s grand opening. On Saturday, July 11 from 4pm to 9pm, Gnome & Faerie is having their grand opening party—and there’s a costume contest involved. Categories include Best Gnome, Best Faerie, and Best Fantasy Character. Aside from that, there will be plenty of food, drink (alcoholic and NA, including a new Brewed By Gnomes beer release), live music, face painting for all ages, and live painting and prints for sale by Kate Shubin.
More on the costume contest: “We will take your photo & your contact info. During the week following our Grand Opening, 7/13-7/19, all photos will be posted on our Instagram and the public will vote for the winners! Details for voting will be provided when the post goes live. After voting has closed, we will contact all 3 winners and coordinate prize retrieval.” 3257 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland
Pomalo’s garden will open tomorrow. This is the official opening of their back garden, and there will be food and drink specials ($10 rib plates, shave ice, and a garden cocktail just for the occasion), plus live music. It starts at 4pm; minors allowed until 9pm; music starts at 7pm. 5903 N Lombard Street, Portland
The Aviation American Gin Visitor Center has closed. Rachel Saslow at Willamette Week reports that June 28, 2026 was the final day at this NW Portland space. There was a sign on the door: “Thank you for all the memories, Portland. Stay weird.”
Aviation Gin was bought by Diageo in 2020, and according to a statement, their decision “reflects evolving business needs, as we continue to support growth ambitions for our Aviation American Gin brand.” Hollow corporatespeak. More on WW. 2075 NW Wilson Street, Portland
Contento Coffee has opened in Beaverton. This coffee cart has joined the food cart pod at this location, opening back in May on Wednesday the 6th of that month. They offer classic espresso drinks as well as some specialty drinks like the Bon Bon (a latte flavored with Lechera, a brand of sweetened condensed milk), Chica Fresa (strawberry white mocha with strawberry foam), Casa Abuela (espresso and Abuelita chocolate), just to name a few. Plus energy drinks with various fruit flavors, Italian sodas, matcha, milkshakes, lemonade, and more. Plus some sweet treats.
You can find them open 7am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and 9am to 8pm on Sunday. 17300 SW Baseline Road, Beaverton
Tiburon Jarocho Mariscos alert. Bridgetown Bites reader Josh B recently wrote about a new-to-him spot for mariscos. “As former Angelinos, we have a thing for mariscos,” he wrote. He’s been a big fan of Don Kamaron, but Tiburon Jarocho Mariscos is a new fave.
“Tiburon Jarocho Mariscos is a terrific, straight-from-Veracruz seafood restaurant with a great variety of fresh seafood and tropical preparations,” he wrote. “Ceviches, seafood cocktail, aguachile in a choice of 4 sauces, amazing seafood soups, and everything with their housemade chips. Try the ‘fish chicharrón,’ which tops any fish-and-chips I’ve had in Portland.” Read his full review on Yelp. Many thanks for letting us share this, Josh. 7732 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland
