Greg Higgins will retire. He sent an email out with the announcement: “So, it is with a full and grateful heart that I share my own important milestone with you: I’m planning to retire.” He is looking to sell the restaurant, for “the right steward for Higgins, someone who understands what this place means to our guests and employees, and will carry it forward into its next chapter here in Portland.” He wants the restaurant to continue to thrive.

First Look: Honorable Mention Lounge Opens at The Benson Hotel in Portland

It’s official! Portland has its own version of the 40/40 Club with the newly opened Honorable Mention—at least according to this New York expat. Honorable Mention, Portland’s new sports lounge, which is co-owned by Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard, opened earlier this month inside The Benson Hotel. The space blends a sultry, luxe vibe with a cozy, welcoming feel that’s perfect for gathering with your crew of friends and sports lovers. The Bridgetown Bites team stopped by its media night this week and came away impressed.

Small Bites: Deadstock, Honorable Mention, Singacoustic, and More

Deadstock Coffee is closing it NW Portland shop at the end of the month. This was another big piece of news from last week that got to me late on Friday 12/19. Deadstock, which has been in Old Town-Chinatown since 2015, will have its last day of service on Wednesday, December 31. Their Beaverton location is doing well and experiencing growth, but as they say, “Sometimes, real good things come to an end.”
