Back in June of this year, Fresh Love opened to the public in Roseway, in the old Red Gate space on NE Fremont. Ben Cutler and Serina Leedy, Fresh Love’s owners, have totally transformed the space, with a vegetable mural circling the insides; new bench seating; a bright, light-filled dining room; and lots of delicious things, prepared and otherwise.

Gebeta Ethiopian Bar & Restaurant Opened in Cully

In the “Well, I’m Late to the Party” category, I recently learned that Gebeta Ethiopian Bar & Restaurant opened in Cully last February. I’ve not gotten a chance to get over there, but online reviews are mostly positive. It’s located in part of Cully’s industrial section, and its presence there is a welcome surprise.

Deeply Rooted Plant-Based Sports Bar Will Open on NE Fremont

Home to past places like Nacheaux, Alameda Hop, and Bourbon Street, the pub space on NE Fremont will welcome a new tenant: Deeply Rooted. Originally from Bend, they are coming to Portland with plant-based eats, cocktails, and a place to watch the game (or fight).

Two More Places to Get Hot Chicken Opening in Portland: Dave’s and Baes

Dave’s Hot Chicken, to open in the old Wendy’s on NE Sandy Blvd.

Nashville hot chicken, that spicy Southern export enjoyed by many, continues to be a presence in the Portland food scene, and soon you’ll be able to get it at a couple of new spots. International fast food chain Dave’s Hot Chicken and local fried chicken joint Baes Chicken are both set to open in NE Portland.

Bison Coffee House Vandalized

Earlier today, in the wee hours of the morning, Bison Coffee House in the Cully neighborhood was vandalized—windows broken, “property damaged, and white debris from a discharged fire extinguisher throughout the interior,” according to the PPB. The good news is that they were able to successfully clean things up (some of the responding officers helped with the cleanup) and were back in business fairly quickly. But why did this happen?
