The other day a reader emailed me about Cascadia Taphouse opening a location in East Portland. This west-side-based taphouse will be setting up shop in the Array Food Hall, located on the ground floor of Timberview VIII, a major mass timber project that was recently completed. I reached out to Cascadia Taphouse and spoke with the owner, Rich DeCoste, to learn more.

Alphabet Burger Co., a New Food Truck, Will Open in North Portland

Recently I came across an ORSOS filing for Alphabet Burger Co., with the Products/Services field filled out with the statement, “THE GREATEST BURGERS OF ALL TIME.” I was definitely intrigued. I’ve learned that they are going to be a food truck stationed in North Portland—Vincent Picone and Joel Carter Jackson are the partners behind it.

Navigator Coffee Co. Will Open on Hayden Island in Portland

I recently became aware of Navigator Coffee Co., a new business project from Justin King (it was on his Instagram where I learned about it). You may know him from, among other things, Ben & Esther’s Vegan Delicatessen. Navigator will be situated right on the southeastern edge of Hayden Island adjacent to the Jantzen Bay Marina, where Menjiro is currently operating.

I reached out to Justin with a few questions and here is what he told me.

Last September I caught wind of Black Cat Frozen Custard, a new project from Rebecca Vega and Jared Bradley. You may know them as the owners of Raven’s Manor, a “haunted mansion themed cocktail lounge.” Black Cat Frozen Custard will offer frozen treats in creative space in a historic building—and more. Welcome to February 2025’s review of top posts for the month. Popular topics include restaurant openings, including the big Flock food hall. And dumplings! Dumpling Week always does well. (Because who doesn’t love dumplings?!?)
