Mi Familia Cafe Has Opened in Portland’s Buckman Neighborhood

A while back I saw that something called “Mi Familia Cafe” was going to open in what I knew to be Que Pasa Cantina. I set it aside because it did not make sense to me at the time. Fast forward to June and I was delighted to hear from the people behind Mi Familia Cafe—who did indeed open in the Que Pasa Cantina space!

So what’s going on? Here is, as Paul Harvey used to say, “the rest of the story.”

Peacock Will Open in Old Crush Bar Space in Portland

Peacock is the name of a new dedicated queer bar in the old Crush Bar space. They hope to open in July 2025, but as of mid-July, it’s looking more like mid-August, according to my sources. I spoke to Aaron Grimmer, one of the persons behind the project, and here is what I learned from him.

Opening Soon: Yellow Line Food Cart Pod, Navigator Coffee, and Alma in Portland

A few things have crossed my desk in the past few days that I wanted to tell you about. First, the grand opening of the Yellow Line Food Cart Pod in North Portland—a pod we haven’t covered here before—is this Friday.

Then to catch up with a couple of things we have covered: the opening of Navigator Coffee on Hayden Island on Saturday, and Alma PDX on NE MLK opens on Friday.

Well, it’s time to look at the top posts from May 2025 on Bridgetown Bites. Last month readers especially liked a couple of roundups and news about few openings in town.

Some updates: 3 Doors Down did indeed open this past week, as per a report from a diner who enjoyed their meal there, though their hours are little unpredictable at the writing of this article. I ate at Paqui Modern Mexican the other day and loved it, especially the ceviche and the garlic green beans. Capes and Crepes soft opened Wednesday, June 4, too.
