St. Patrick’s Day is on a Tuesday this year, still March 17. And why that date? It’s the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c. 385 to c. 461), the primary patron saint of Ireland. Here in Portland, there are plenty of celebrations on St. Paddy’s Day, as well as those taking place on the weekend prior. And along with the pipers, music, and dancers, there’s plenty of great Irish food and drink to be had. Here’s what’s up in Portland for St. Patrick’s Day 2026.

It’s back! Dumpling Week 2026 arrives this Sunday, February 15. After Salad Week (natch), Dumpling Week is my favorite food week in Portland (we keep a list of the others over in our Portland Food and Drink Festivals page). This year, over 40 restaurants are participating in Dumpling Week.

Thanks to Reddit, I was made aware of this video that in a very creative way announces the Portland Trailblazers 2024-25 schedule. I do not really follow basketball (I’m more of a baseball person, ngl), so I probably wouldn’t have paid much attention to this if is hadn’t been for its intersection with what this site is all about: Portland food and restaurants.
