Portland food news and views
Not a whole lot of details available right now, but it looks like Yen Ha, one of Portland’s oldest Vietnamese restaurants that closed October 21, will rise again. I speculated on their return last week, and was thrilled to see confirmation of that. Stay tuned.

5. Black Seed Burger Cult Does Not Take Itself Too Seriously
While perusing the latest liquor license applications, I ran across the intriguingly-named Black Seed Burger Cult; they’ve applied for a limited on-premises license. They’re opening up in the old Verde Cocina space (3746 North Mississippi), which closed last January.

5. Red Sauce Pizza Moving to Fremont and NE 47th Avenue
Yesterday afternoon I opened up Instagram and saw the news: Red Sauce Pizza is moving! I never thought I’d see the day, since they are such a presence on that strip of 42nd Avenue. They’ll be moving into a space on NE Fremont and 47th Avenue, which can only be the location of the now-shuttered Anchor End (and before that, Thrive). Anchor End closed in early August 2019.

I’ve learned that a new bagel shop is opening up on NE Sandy Blvd next to the Mom & Pop Wine Shop—Ben & Esther’s Bagels. It’s slated to open in October 2019 with a variety of bagels, schmears, salads and beverages.
