Over the years, Bridgetown Bites has published numerous stories about Portland restaurant openings and closings. But what’s different about this year, is that I kept a simple list of those we covered, in reverse-chronological order. Late last week a Bridgetown Bites tipster reached out to inform me that The Mule Bar—the new bar opening in the old Stanich’s space on NE Fremont Street in Cully—will open their doors officially on Friday, February 2 (date updated this morning). There will be a soft opening on Wednesday, January 31. Hot dog!
True, I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the Sandy Jug Tavern opening today as far as bar openings go, but this news about The Mule Bar is excellent. I’m really glad new life will flow through this location. Along with the news about the opening date, I’ve also learned that they’ve somewhat updated the space (the pennants remain).

Looks like the building in the Cully neighborhood that was home to Stanich’s for many years will become something new. A new watering hole, currently called The Mule Bar, is looking to open up at 4915 NE Fremont.
