Sip & Forage grand opens on Saturday. This is a relatively new food cart pod on SW 5th Avenue between SW Hall and College, and the former location of a Wells Fargo Bank. They soft opened August 24 but are doing their grand opening celebration tomorrow from 4pm to 8pm. They have an Airstream cocktail bar and food carts, and will do a raffle, offer drink specials, and food samples. 1900 SW 5th Avenue, Portland

Hearth & Vine opened yesterday. We covered this restaurant last year when it was shrouded in mystery. I can’t deny that doing the research at the time was a lot of fun, uncovering details incrementally. Portland area food artisans did well this year in the Good Food Awards, a project of the SF-based Good Food Foundation, with a strong showing in the West region (there are five regions total). According to the Foundation, “crafters from 42 states and D.C. rose to the top across 17 categories after a Blind Tasting of 1,966 products. They then passed a rigorous vetting to confirm meeting Good Food Awards sustainability standards.”
