If you remember a couple of years ago, I swooned over an Adriatic Fig I tasted at One Green World nursery in SE Portland. This past weekend, I found myself in the area and decided to see if they had any Adriatic Plants in stock. And they did!
Back in 2019 I said about this fig: “It has such a fantastic flavor—very fruity, sweet but not cloying, and had flavors of currant, strawberry, and was—to use a wine term—kind of “jammy.” I thought it was a superior fruit.” I never forgot what an impression it made on me.
I’ll be putting it in a 5- or 7-gallon container bag this week—I can easily move it around in these bags-with-handles, and see where it’s happiest—and watching it grow while I either figure out if I want to continue growing it in a series of containers (it can handle that) or plant it permanently on my property. All in all, it’s a very exciting development!
Welcome to El Diamante, little fig! I think I will call you “Phyllis.
