Welcome Back Aperitivo at Sebastiano’s

I love getting news from Sebastiano’s—which originally stole my heart with their fresh mozzarella when almost nobody was making it for retail consumption in Portland—and am happy to pass on this update on their Aperitivo program, now in its second year. After their Preview nights at the end of May (see below), the goal is to offer Apertivo every Friday and Saturday evening throughout the summer.

This little pop-up proved to be quite popular last summer, so they wanted to bring it back again. Instead of Sicilian street food as was the focus last year, they will offer cheese plates, charcuterie boards, fresh salads, rotating Sicilian specials, “really good Sicilian wine,” local and Italian beer, and non-alcoholic drinks. Spritz will be back, too.

Along with being able to enjoy some great Sicilian food on site, there will be a couple of ticketed events in May:

  • May 15—Chef Sara Hauman of Top Chef Oregon fame will take over the Sebastiano’s kitchen for a four-course small plate meal. Each course will incorporate her Pacific Northwest tinned seafood line, Tiny Fish. As Dan and Elise say, “The menu is insane, and it’s going to be a great time!  We almost never get to play with seafood at Sebastiano’s, despite it being such a big part of Sicilian cuisine, so we are really excited for this collaboration.” The event will have two seatings: 2pm and 5pm and it lasts approximately two hours. Tickets are $100/each and price includes meal, drinks & gratuity.
  • May 27 & 28—These two Memorial Day Weekend evenings are “Preview Nights” of this season’s new menu items, new drink program, and patio space, which has been refreshed for the summer. This is a very nice way to begin the unofficial start of summer. The event goes from 5pm to 7pm each day. Tickets are $45/each and includes “a little bit of everything and your first drink.”

You can get your tickets for any of these events and check out the menus at the Sebastiano’s Tock page. Your family, friends, kids, and dogs are all welcome.

So make your plans to stop by Sebastiano’s this summer for Aperitivo in beautiful Montavilla. And don’t forget to buy some of their delectable Pasticcini di Mandorle cookies while you’re there. See you this summer!
