All Your Heart Coffee To Open in South Waterfront

In more food/drink news from the South Waterfront neighborhood (yesterday we published an article on Lone Wolf Watering Hole), I’m here to tell you that a new coffee shop is opening up called All Your Heart Coffee. It will reside in the old Oracle Coffee Company space; they closed in 2023.

All Your Heart Coffee’s Origin Story

First, the duo behind All Your Heart Coffee posted a note on the door with a little background on how the owners came to start up the business:

“In 1988, my dad began his career in coffee, running a cart in Spokane, Washington. It initially just started as a job to get back in the workforce after being hit by a truck and breaking his back. Not exactly ideal. But the job gave him a chance to reconnect with people after being cooped up and grew into a passion for coffee and community. It took him up and down the West Coast until settling in Seattle, where he helped grow Nordstrom’s ebar business.

“That continued for several years, but in 1997, when I was about to be born, he reluctantly turned in the coffee stained apron for a suit and a safer corporate job.  Fast-forward to 2016, and coffee found its way to me, too. Between classes at Portland State each semester, I explored every corner of downtown as I sought out my favorite coffee shop.

“My dad and I’s [sic] love for coffee brought us together, and it became clear that now was the time for us to do something together and, like so many years ago for him, get out to reconnect and create a community space: one that isn’t just ours but a place for the neighborhood to make their own.

We’ve excited to welcome you in.
-Brycen and Chris Johnson”

What To Expect

It will be a third-wave coffee spot, offering light and medium roasts, single origin beans, and interesting blends; probably pastries, too, and maybe some more substantial items. Oracle was also a third-wave shop, so the transition will no doubt be pretty smooth. According to someone close to the business, the closing or Oracle was “a mutual decision was made by all staff (owners and non owners).” (source: Reddit).

One thing that occurred to me—and was made plain when I was doing relevant research—was that Google confused newcomer “All Your Heart Coffee” with established brand “Heart Coffee” I hope as All Your Heart gets going that Google will be less concerned, and smarter about its results.

Also, All Your Heart Coffee may become the second Native American-owned coffee house in Portland, the other being Bison Coffeehouse in Cully.

I’ve reached out to the All Your Heart Coffee folks to get more information on the new coffee shop, and will pass that on when I receive it. As always, I wish them only the best as they prepare to open!

  1. Great article! I’m bias as I know the owner and his son but also completely confident they will be exactly what we all hope for in a local small business that puts its team and patrons first and to be the bridge that connects communities with the bonus of superb coffee and treats!
