While I was out of the office yesterday (a cancer survivor’s work is never done), the news dropped that Bang Bang, a sweet little spot that serves “Thai-inspired” food on NE Fremont—in what is technically Cully but feels more like Beaumont-Wilshire—is closing this month. The food and drink there, in my experience, is quite tasty, and I’m sorry to see them go.
Bang Bang: 10 Years
And can you believe they’ve been around for a decade? That is a really good run in this day and age—and they made it through the pandemic (Quaintrelle, which is also closing at the end of December, did, too). The folks behind the restaurant express their pride in how they triumphed over the era of pandemic closures.

The Farewell Note
Here is more from their announcement, full of gratitude, on social media:
“We’ve had the privilege of serving you with love, and in the process, we’ve built friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s been an honor to feed your families, and in many cases, watch your kids grow up right before our eyes. We’ve hosted your first dates, bachelorette parties, wedding receptions, baby showers, and celebrations of new homes.
“The neighborhood has been our home, and you’ve made it so special. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for dining with us, for supporting us, and for making these ten years unforgettable. We are forever grateful. To our incredible staff over the years, thank you! You’ve helped shape Bang Bang into what it is today, and we appreciate each of you.”

Head there by December 21, which will be their final day of service; between now and then their days open will be Tuesdays through Saturdays. You can join them there for “one last Old Fashioned, a green curry bowl, and a hug.”
But Wait … There’s Wonderly
However, all is not lost. The same people who run Bang Bang are behind Wonderly (they sit there next door to each other), and they serve food and drink there, so the quality you’re used to will be found at Wonderly. It’s a bit of a silver lining.
As to what will become of this restaurant space? I’ll keep an eye on it. I hope the final week and a half will be full of good times.
