After being cancelled in 2020, Around the World in 82 Dishes—a celebration of global food options situated on and around 82nd Avenue—is back! This “international food tour” runs three consecutive weekends between Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, November 7, 2021: October 23 & 24, October 30 & 31 and November 6 & 7.

It’s hard to believe it, but this Saturday is the last chance to shop at the Rocky Butte Farmers Market this year. The organizers have worked hard all year and it shows—they’ve gathered together a great group of vendors, provided fun entertainment and a positive shopping experience. It feels good to support a variety of local businesses; plus it’s easy to get there.

I was really happy to hear that Beaverton Restaurant Week is back for its fifth year! It will take place between Thursday, September 23 and Sunday, October 3 (so, a little over a week). Along with farmers markets, CSAs are a great way to access local, sustainably-grown food, and they’re not just for summer—many farms offer winter shares, too. This means you’ll get all sorts of delicious foods of the season—think brassicas (broccoli and Brussels sprouts), alliums (onions, garlic, leeks), and hardy greens like radicchio.

This Saturday is the penultimate market day of the Rocky Butte Farmers Market, located right on the Rocky Butte itself. It’s been so satisfying to see this market grow and establish itself as a vibrant community space, providing access to all sorts of high-quality local foods and products convenient to the neighborhoods of Madison South, Roseway and Sumner neighborhoods.
