Getting To Know Speedboat Coffee in Southeast Portland

Walking up tow Speedboat in Portland, Oregon.

Late last year, I heard that Speedboat Coffee was moving to a new location, so I stopped in on their opening day in December. They made me a really good cup of coffee and super tasty croissant breakfast sandwich—one of the best I’ve had lately. But what I didn’t know is that they make their own baklava! That definitely hooked me, so I wanted to learn more about them.

I reached out to them with interest and curiosity, and here is what I’ve learned about Speedboat Coffee, so I thought I’d share it with you.

5. The Wooden Chicken Pub Returns

Wooden Chicken Pub sign in Portland, OR

As we reported in June, Argay favorite the Wooden Chicken Pub closed after over 40 years in business. Photo credits: Tokyo Sando and Bing Mi

A while back I wrote about the arrival of the Midtown Beer Garden in the “midtown” section of downtown Portland. I also wrote about Tokyo Sando closing, with the uncertainty of a return to Portland. Kouzina is out, Michael’s is in.

A Bridgetown Bites tipster email me earlier this week: “Walked by today and saw Kouzina moving out. A sign in the window states that Michael’s Italian Beef and Sausage Co. is moving in soon.” They offer Italian-style beef, sausage, and various cold sandwiches; and Chicago-style hot dogs.
