As I’ve mentioned before, the Rocky Butte Farmers Market is returning this June, this time atop the actual Rocky Butte by Mannahouse Church. In anticipation of the Market, there’s been lots of strategy and planning, and one thing that has come out of the planning process is a fundraiser to support the Rocky Butte Farmers Market at Arrowood Restaurant on the evening of Monday, May 17.
I stopped by the Rocky Butte Espresso Bar earlier this week and thought I’d share an update on what’s up with them these days. First, my latte with a touch of cardamom syrup (from Portland’s own Holy Kakow) was very good, and it was great to chat with James Helms, one of Rocky Butte’s owners (Parkrose’s Bryan Atkinson is another owner) and barista extraordinaire. We love having them out here in our little corner of Portland (Sumner-Roseway-Madison South), which I continue to enjoy more and more the longer I live here.

[Full disclosure: I am part of the core leadership group for the Rocky Butte Farmers Market.]
I’m very happy share the news that the Rocky Butte Farmers Market will return this summer! As mentioned above, I’m part of the core planning group/steering committee for this market, which serves the east Portland neighborhoods of Sumner, Roseway, and Madison South; I’m lending my talents and skills with writing and editing content. In fact, I put together the latest blog post announcing the market’s return.
Basic info preview: we’ll have five monthly markets from June to October, happening the second Saturday of each month. They will take place in the expansive parking lot at Mannahouse Church (formerly City Bible Church), a “non-denominational Christian church” on the Rocky Butte itself. You may have seen their building, sort of space-age-era looking concrete domes.
