Getting To Know Speedboat Coffee in Southeast Portland

Late last year, I heard that Speedboat Coffee was moving to a new location, so I stopped in on their opening day in December. They made me a really good cup of coffee and super tasty croissant breakfast sandwich—one of the best I’ve had lately. But what I didn’t know is that they make their own baklava! That definitely hooked me, so I wanted to learn more about them.

A Dairy Queen Grows in Portland: An Opening Update

A Bridgetown Bites reader emailed me the following observation about the Dairy Queen (DQ) on SE Division and 55th: “It’s been years since hearing any word on the empty corner lot … yesterday I noticed that preliminary work had been done to level the plot and some new (uninformative) warning tape/signs had gone up.” I’ve got an update.

Better Days Cafe Is Open in Portland

Today is the first day of the soft opening of Better Days Cafe, located on SE Division and 35th Place. This is a project from Kim Dam of Portland Cà Phê and Mémoire Cà Phê, a new brunch spot on NE Alberta that recently received a 2024 Eater award for Restaurant Team of the Year; and Melody Rin, who has been a roaster and the very first employee at Portland Cà Phê.
