Last month I was invited by Jacob Loeb, publisher of the Montavilla News, to do a tasting at Thang Long Cuisine, a Vietnamese restaurant on SE Division in Montavilla. It’s in good company there at the bottom edge of the neighborhood, what with Master Kong and the very popular Mojo Crepes as its neighbors. The space that holds Thang Long Cuisine used to be home to Thai Fresh.

A Trung Nguyên Legend Cafe Looks To Open in Portland

According to paperwork filed with ORSOS, along with Portland city permits filed, it appears that a Trung Nguyên Legend Cafe is planning to open on SE Powell Blvd and SE 84th Avenue. Trung Nguyên is a major name in Vietnamese coffee, and along with their manufacturing and retail efforts, their cafes are some of the most popular in Vietnam. “Trung Nguyen Legend” is the company’s “premium brand in coffee.”

Nate’s Oatmeal Cookies Opens June 7 on SE Belmont

A new bakery, focusing on the world of oatmeal cookies, will open tomorrow, June 7 on SE Belmont and 33rd. Nate’s Oatmeal Cookies will offer a number of variations on this American staple of a baked good—and is a kind of “pandemic success story,” if you will.
